All Aqua Borne Ceramic™ products have excellent adhesion to most substrates and primers are not usually needed. However, some substrates do require a primer. Maximum adhesion and maximum performance of the coating system is usually achieved with the use of a primer.

Aqua Borne Ceramic™ Universal Stain Blocking Primer |

This interior/exterior
primer is the perfect primer for use prior to finishing with Aqua Borne
Ceramic™ finish coats. It compliments the 142 Acrylic Lo-Sheen House & Trim
Paint nicely. It provides a firm foundation that will allow the system to
last many years. It has excellent adhesion to wood, drywall, previously
painted surfaces such as old alkyds, metals, most plastics, vinyl and masonry.
It blocks most common stains such as tannins and stains caused by smoke.
Best results over stained surfaces can be achieved by allowing the primer
to dry overnight. This drying time allows the primer to encapsulate the
stains and keeps them from entering the finish coat. This primer contains
very tenacious resins that promote adhesion allowing the primer to stick
to glossy surfaces, although best adhesion will be obtained if glossy surfaces
are deglossed before priming. |

Aqua Borne Ceramic™ Blockout/Undercoat Primer

This interior/exterior
primer has excellent adhesion to virtually all paint-able substrates: wood,
drywall, previously painted surfaces such as old alkyds, ceramic tile, metals,
most plastics, vinyl, masonry and Formica. It has high hide and will block
out dark colors so a minimum of finish coats will be required. It is capable
of depositing a high-build which is useful for covering small scratches
on kitchen cabinets and woodwork. It sands quite easily and leaves a very
smooth surface perfect for finishing with Aqua Borne Ceramic™ enamels. Holdout
is excellent. Because of its hardness, it is not recommended for exterior
use on wood siding but is excellent exterior on rigid substrates such as
metal siding. |

Aqua Borne Ceramic™ Corrosion Resistant Primer
|
|
|
This primer
can be used over cleaned rusty metal to prevent further corrosion. It contains
powerful corrosion inhibitors that stops metal rusting. It can be used interior/exterior.
With a two-coat application it can be used as the finish coat if a low sheen
is desired. Although it is primarily designed as a metal primer, it will
adhere to most substrates. It can be used as a one-coat system in some instances
such as interior metal ceilings. |
