Care of Aqua Borne Ceramic™ Painted Surfaces

Surfaces coated with Aqua Borne Ceramic™ products have the best protection possible. With reasonable care, these hard, impervious coatings will generally last until the color needs to be changed.

Aqua Borne Ceramic™ products dry quickly. In most cases, they can be washed if necessary after just an overnight dry (conventional latex paints require several weeks before washing is recommended). On very humid days or if large amounts of colorant have been added to the product, longer dry times may be necessary.

Aqua Borne Ceramic™ products dry to a very hard impervious film that makes it difficult for mold and mildew to get started. These products are ideal for use in commercial buildings such as restaurants, kitchens, baths, hospital, doctors and dentists offices because the surfaces coated with Aqua Borne Ceramic™ products can be cleaned with disinfectant and institutional cleaners normally used in these environments.

These water borne coatings are exceptionally easy to apply and flow and level very nicely resulting in an attractive smooth finish making them excellent for use in residential applications. Literally, they can be used in every room in the house.

It is desirable to remove stains as soon as possible. The longer stains remain on the surface, the more time they have to "set" and the harder they are to remove.

Water-soluble stains such as highlighters, some food products, some markers, dirt, etc. can be washed off with plain water. Simply take a wet cloth or wet sponge and wash off the dirt and stains. So not use abrasive pads that might scratch the finish. Do not rub any harder than is necessary to remove the stains. If the stains do not come off, the stains are not water-soluble and you will need to use a cleaner to remove them.

Crayons, ink, permanent markers, oil-containing food products such as mayonnaise are generally not water-soluble. Water-insoluble stains can often be removed with Fantastik, 409 cleaner, Challenger, or some other good household or institutional cleaner. Glass cleaners such as Windex often work well. You may spray the cleaner directly on the stain; the cleaner will not affect the Aqua Borne Ceramic™ finish as long as the cleaner is rinsed off in a reasonable period of time.

It is not recommended that the cleaner be left on the painted surface for periods exceeding 30 minutes or some softening of the paint film may occur. (If the cleaner is inadvertently left on too long and does soften the film, gently wash off the cleaner and allow to dry. The film will recover its hardness.)

Do not use these cleaners on conventional latex paint or the paint film will be severely damaged.

The use of abrasive cleaners is not recommended, as the abrasives will scuff the finish.
